Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs - Sick and Tired - LIVE.mpg
Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs LIVE in 1964. Playing in Australia... possibly Sydney by the hats the cops wore. Can any of the fans in the audience be identified?

Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs - Dawn Song

Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs playing the Dawn Song live on Australian ABC TV's Hitscene, circa 1971. Worth watching the whole video. Its extremely rare.
I love the more “rock” approach of this cover. Also love the “psych-rock” vibe.
Rick Springfield and Darryl Cotton do a good job with this. When he recorded Jessie's girl, he didn't even play the guitar because they were of the opinion that he couldn't do the part properly because he was never a subtle strummed, and he was not good at the note changes, like when you hear a rhythm guitarist would play, but the problem was that he wasn't good at tight, separate notes without all the string sliding sound that the music industry has wanted since RnR started. But I think it is a brilliant interpretation of the song and the bands name was the Zoot.
Aussie way of cover songs❤❤❤😅😅😅😅😅
Is this a joke?
What a memory! I remember Zoot playing in Eastlands Shopping Centre in Ringwood in about '70 [I think it was in the window of the record shop close to the entrance rather than the main foyer where 'guests' normally played ] and giving away free copies of this on weird floppy pink vinyl! The vinyl only lasted about 3 plays before getting worn out and by then you wanted a proper '45 that would last! Great marketing! But they went down a storm all the same! I was about 9 so it was my first 'rock concert'.....in a shopping centre in the Eastern Suburbs! Great, great memories!
That was horrible
Not hardly
obvio cuando una cancion tiene una version heavy metal, se convierte en mejor
Stop just stop
This a clear demonstration of just how good a different approach to a song can be! I feel this is an occasion where the remake is better than the original. This version just amazed me when I first heard it and still does,! The Beatles version is still great.
How do you make a great song better, give it to some Ozzie rockers
Great Version, purists at least acknowledge the beat.
How bazzar .yet hence we r 2024 .love it
No way!
i think Indonesian have a better cover version for this legendary song ruclips.net/video/BHuFO20eMhI/видео.html you should watch and listen
Beatiful and diferent but not better.
Great groove bridge
Great cover. Way to own it!
Chit sucks
better than the beatles 🤔errrr.....dont tnink so no one does a beatles song better than the beatles, and who the hell are zoot ive never heard of them
Making comparisons with the Beatles is the ultimate sin! Yes this version may be good but it should NEVER be compared.
The sound is horrible....😢😢😢
Joe Jackson’s version is good.
What makes this great is that it kind of sounds like "What if the Beatles jammed with Black Sabbath."
A disgrace , totally loses the mood & meaning of the words. Essentially should have been banned 😮
not only is the music better but Rick Springfield doesnt beat women
what a prat
Better, nah...... more like Henry the VIIIth I Am I Am,,, maybe.......
No. Stupid question.
Easy to tell that after losing the pink outfits Darryl and Rick went all in on the"Who" stylings. Vocally they were excellent and this is a killer cover (also always wanted that white SG)
they look so tired 😆
This clip reminds me of an acid trip.
Sorry but why trying to make a best cover?? This is simply bizarre rock and roll. Wouln'd have been Beatles version, it would have remain unnoticed.
etonnant / amazing :-) interessante version
Still got my 45rpm single ..ahh the memories
No. Just no. Awful. Took a beautifully haunting, classic song and completely cheesified it. Massacred it. Just no.
NO .... NOT better
i love this cover but its no match for the Beatles doing Eleanor Rigby
if it is beatles, i don't think that there is a better version than their original
The music does not set the same mood as the lyrics. No thanks.
Good version. Better than the original? Hardly.
It's different is all. To say it's better than the Beatles' version is so stupid and insulting and disrespectul it makes me sick. Hence, this version makes me sick!
Not better than The Beatles.
Not
Proof that a masterfully composed song can survive ANY arrangement, even crap like this.
Did people recognise Rick Springfield. ?
Rick Springfield was a handsome guitarist back then.
No puedes comparar los arreglos de George Martin. No es mejor, definitivamente, y dudo volver a escucharla. Pero es la versión rock, y no está mal...
"Better than the Beatles"......Surely you jest. This doesn't even approach The Beatles version. They psychedelicized it and did a good job. But c'mon......
Not a bad version
OH MY WORD!!! I dig Russell's hair.
